This laboraratory records all registrable data of sleep into a computer for further review. The patient is monitored and recorded all night during sleep in a special room created at a sensitivity of home.
What are done in a Sleep Laboratory?
Electroencephalography (EEG), electrooculography (EOG), electromyography of mandibular muscle tension (mandibular EMG), lying position records, the air flow into the nose during respiration, chest and abdominal movements during respiration, blood oxygen level, cardiac graph (ECG), electromyography of contractions of leg muscle (leg EMG) are recorded.
The patients who are suspected for sleep apnea disease which presents snoring and breath holding during sleep and sleepiness state during the day are admitted to the sleep laboratory. Furthermore, the patients suspicious for Narcolepsia, a disease causing drowsing anywhere during the day as well as periodical leg movements which also causes tiredness and drowsiness during the day are admitted.
